Are you looking to upgrade your insulation, install solar panels or swap out your old heating system? Here’s everything you need to know about finding the right installer for the job.
It’s important to find trusted professionals to bring your home improvement projects to life. Let us help you connect with local, qualified installers who specialise in energy-saving solutions. This ensures peace of mind and quality workmanship every step of the way.
Whatever the improvement or installation, we strongly recommend you do the following:
- Check if you’re eligible for any grant funding. There are local and national schemes that could cover some or all of the cost of your installation. These may depend on your circumstances and the what you’re looking to install.
- Contact at least three installers for quotes to give you choice and to ensure good value for money. We recommend using installers registered with TrustMark or the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
- Make sure your chosen installer is fully qualified and, if possible, accredited with a relevant industry body or trade federation.
- Ask installers what guarantees they provide for the quality of their work and what warranties they supply with the products used.
- Be wary of heavy handed sales tactics, including heavily discounted rates or pressure to sign on the day.
Energy efficiency improvements
If you’re installing home energy efficiency improvements, consider working with a TrustMark registered installer. You can find installers on TrustMark’s website.
Check what guarantees each installer offers. For wall insulation you should expect a 25 year independent or insurance backed guarantee.
Heat pumps and renewable electricity systems, including batteries
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is a quality assurance body that certifies both installers and equipment.
You can search for MCS-certified installers in your area. For a full list of MCS-certified installers, visit the MCS website.
Heat network connections
For heat network connections, the installer of the connection must be approved by the scheme owner/operator.
